Our beautiful barn conversion is available for self-catering holiday accommodation throughout the year. The barn is well suited to groups of four adults or a family of four.
You will be greeted in the barn with a complimentary welcome pack of essentials including fresh milk, loaf of bread and home made jam as well as some treats from local producers such as craft beer and lavender tea. There is also a supply of tea bags, coffee and sugar, salt and pepper.
“This is a lovely place to stay – spotlessly clean, very well equipped, spacious and comfortable. The village is gorgeous and very peaceful, a great base for glorious walks, with lots of great places to visit. Info on the house and surrounding area detailed and clear. We found Susannah friendly and helpful but not intrusive.”
Lisa, York
Ground Floor
The ground floor comprises of an open plan living space with a fully fitted and well appointed kitchen area (with microwave and washing machine), a dining area with country style table and chairs and a spacious sitting room area with television, Freeview and DVD player. There is also free WiFi available.
The downstairs is flooded with natural light, with two windows at the front looking over our front garden and a window to the side overlooking the lane.
The walls in the dining area are decorated with some of my paintings of the local area and there are complimentary postcards of The Hay Barn for you to send to your friends and family!
The sitting room is a cosy and comfortable area in which to relax after a long day of walking or sightseeing and is well stocked with DVD’s (including various Jane Austen productions – after all we are in the heart of Jane Austen country!), family games and books.
First Floor
Upstairs there are two generously sized bedrooms, both with luxurious organic cotton bed linen, fluffy white towels and hand-painted furniture.
The blue bedroom is a comfortable, airy double with King Size bed and characterful painted tongue and groove panelling, a south facing velux window which floods the room with natural light, and a casement window overlooking the quiet lane. A hair dryer and radio are also provided.
The yellow bedroom is a bright, spacious twin bedroom. The layout of this room allows for comfortable accommodation for children and adults alike, with the single beds arranged in separate corners of the room, allowing for a degree of privacy.
There is a shared shower room with bountiful hot water, complimentary soaps and body lotion from the Lavender Fields at Selborne.
There is an outside seating area exclusively for the use of our guests, surrounded by beautiful pots of colourful flowers and plants and herbs for you to help yourself to. A perfect area in which to enjoy the morning sun, sip on a cup of tea and watch the world go by (mostly this consists of horse riders and dog walkers, although as we are surrounded by farmland, there may be some farm traffic particularly during harvest time). We have an apple tree, producing delicious eaters, to which you are welcome to help yourselves, if you are staying during the later summer months.
“The barn is a beautiful and well appointed property, amazing range of kitchen utensils and crockery available plus a number of thoughtful touches. The village is lovely (the pub is well worth a visit) and the area is stunning with lots of lovely walks. Would definitely stay again.“

Babies and young children are welcome. Please note however that the staircase is wood with no carpet so could be a bit slippery for a small person, but we can provide a stairgate at the top of the stairs, on request. A highchair, baby bath and children’s crockery and cutlery can also be provided. We have a selection of family games as well as some puzzles and games to entertain our younger guests.
